For a long time now, we’ve hacked on REST APIs. Mainly to integrate with an ever-growing list of platforms like Salesforce, GitHub, and Stripe.

Time and again, it’s a death by a thousand paper cuts. Each integration starts with a new hope but ends with a reminder that there are few standards and endless hurdles. This is tedious, expensive, brittle work. IYKYK.

Worse, all this work is just API extraction. Most of the paper cuts come from the undifferentiated effort to get the data you need out of the API. Only after extraction do you write the business logic that actually integrates the API into your product.

We believe that API extraction is unnecessarily hard because REST was never designed to support it. To make integrations 10X simpler, we need to work with a better data interface. Not abstract or contort an imperfect one. 

With Sequin, we’re building a new, superior interface for integrations. We give you access to data from dozens of platforms in a single message stream. This change data capture stream is purpose-built to power syncing and system-to-system integration.

This isn’t a new idea. A message stream has long been regarded as the best design pattern for integrating systems.

We envision a future where developers stop writing undifferentiated and tedious extraction code. And instead spend their time solving new problems with all their data readily available.
